You can’t run an Internet-based business, or almost any business these days, for that matter, if your computers aren’t working. We live in a tech-heavy society, and computers are as crucial and ubiquitous today as typewriters were a generation ago. Of course, the more important something is, the more ways there usually are for it to go wrong, grinding your business to a halt. Repair and UpgradeIf there’s something wrong with your hardware, you may simply need repairs. A switch came loose, a power surge fried an internal component, someone spilled something nasty on the keyboard, there are myriad reasons why your computer may be broken, and if it is, the only answer besides replacing the unit entirely, losing all the data within and incurring the expense of a new machine, is to get it repaired.
Performance Tuning
A good way to avoid unnecessary repairs and to keep your computer running smoothly and at high performance is regular tune ups. Clean that hard drive of unnecessary files and programs that may be slowing things down. Find out how your computer’s performance and speed is relative to what it is capable of and get it functioning up to capacity. You’ve probably seen the great things a tune up can do for your car; it can do just as great things for your computer.
Backup and Restore
Everyone has experienced the nightmare of lost data. If you’re running a business, loss of crucial data can be crippling. Good backups make sure that you are always covered. If your system and your data are backed up, you never have to worry about an unwanted virus or other computer mishap erasing your data or making it inaccessible to you. Backups mean peace of mind when it comes to your computers and the information within them.
Anti Virus Protection
That being said, the best way to deal with a virus is not to get one in the first place. Unfortunately the reason they call it a virus is that new strains are constantly arising and adapting to protective measures to ward them off or destroy them, just like the living variety. Current anti-virus protection with regular updates is the only way to make sure your computers are safe from virus-initiated crashes, data loss and data theft.
Anti Spam Filtering
While not as potentially devastating as viruses, spam can be just as annoying, and it can be costly too. Deleting and avoiding spam wastes your company’s resources, and spam disguised as something that may be useful to your company may be even more costly and time-consuming. Good anti-spam protection keeps your Internet activities running smoothly with a minimum of unnecessary interruption.
